From strategy to operations
This reference is more an example of string of projects. Starting with the design of the network and development of the strategic capacity planning. We helped DPD design their network in the Benelux for the coming years based on different growth scenarios.
As the parcel industry continue to evolve in response to technological advancements, shifting consumer expectations, and global economic dynamics, the significance of a having such a plan became increasingly pronounced for DPD. TO be prepared. Anticipating and adapting to emerging trends was pivotal in navigating the complex terrain of parcel logistics. Their success hinged on their ability to proactively address challenges such as last-mile delivery optimization, sustainability concerns, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies. This project played a critical role in that a forward-thinking ensuring the resilience and prosperity of parcel services in the coming decade.
Once we finished this strategic agenda, follow-up project were initiated to translate the network strategy into day-to-day operations and improvements. For example, we updated the routing tables to facilitate their continuous growth and changing ratio between B2B and B2C deliveries. DPD wanted to improve its routing table optimization procedure and professionalize towards a standardized forecast-based optimization procedure. We helped DPD by successfully optimizing the routing tables of all Dutch depots and created a transparent and standardized procedure for route optimization.
In this project we used a set of supply chain network models to simulate the different scenario’s and simulate the performance and lead-times: Simulation module of our Spanning Tree platform, Multi-echelon inventory optimization and costs database.
