A robust European structure
The review of the European supply chain
Ricoh, as a leading provider of innovative products and services, recognizes the significance of periodically reassessing its supply chain structure in the European context. The ever-evolving nature of customer demands, regulatory landscapes, and logistical efficiencies necessitates a proactive approach. By undertaking comprehensive reviews every 2 to 3 years, Ricoh can align its supply chain with emerging trends, optimize operational processes, and enhance overall responsiveness.
This commitment to regular review ensures that Ricoh’s European supply chain remains agile, cost-effective, and resilient. It enables the company to swiftly integrate technological advancements, address potential bottlenecks, and maintain a competitive edge in an industry characterized by rapid innovation. Ultimately, the periodic evaluation of the European supply chain structure stands as a cornerstone of Ricoh’s commitment to operational excellence and sustained success in the ever-evolving market dynamics of the technology sector.
Common sense. Always question the status quo and be critical.

In previous projects, we were involved in designing Ricoh’s European distribution structure, that resulted in a centralization effort, consolidating multiple European distribution centers. Several years after this centralization, we reviewed this structure to assess its continued alignment with the requirements of the current market.
The direct impetus for this project was a series of acquisitions that altered the distribution structure in Eastern Europe. We were tasked with evaluating the design of this Eastern European distribution structure and identifying potential improvements. The primary focus was on the trade-off between distribution costs and service levels. Utilizing the developed network model, a variety of scenarios were compared.

In this project we used a set of supply chain network models to simulate the different scenario’s and simulate the performance and lead-times: Simulation module of our Spanning Tree platform, Multi-echelon inventory optimization and costs database.
